I had an interesting week with a Flex prototype I started working with. A .NET web service and a missing crossdomain.xml file made for a challenging situation - trying to retrieve the data with the Flash Player 9 security model doing such an excellent job. A business associate of mine told me about a tool that I had not used before - MSSoap Toolkit. I downloaded the 3.0 version on my Windows Vista OS, and in no-time, had my data displayed in my Flex UI. Here's how: 1. Once I downloaded and installed the MSSoap toolkit, I ran the executable (mine was located at C:\Program Files\MSSOAP\Binaries\MSSoapT.exe). 2. Next, with the MSSoap UI, I pointed my port 8080 to the .NET server's domain name, and 3. Finally, I tweaked my Flex web service call to include the 8080 port. Now, running my Flex UI returned data via this 'proxied' approach. Cool beans. |
